A dispassionate evaluation of our own flaws allows us to correct them without falling into self-condemnation.

Dispassionate: Not influenced by strong emotion, and so able to be rational and impartial.

Synonyms: Objective, impartial, detached, unemotional.

Antonyms: Biased, impassioned, emotional, partisan.
